Unilock Fence Installation: The Orange County Owner’s Guide

Unilock fence installation in Orange County typically runs $3,500 to $9,000 for a complete run, including demolition of the old fence, base preparation, posts, panels, and finish hardware. We stock Unilock-compatible fence components and install them on a written, fixed price, so you know the number before we start. Most Orange County homeowners discover their Unilock fence installation has failed when a post leans after a winter rain, a panel lifts at the corner after wind off the coastal canyons, or a gate starts dragging against the concrete. The failure is rarely the panel itself. It is almost always what is underneath: the post footing, the base course, or the connection between post and panel that has worked loose over time.

We are an independent contractor, not a Unilock dealer or affiliate. What that means for you is we match the part to your existing layout and tell you honestly whether a repair will hold or a replacement is the only square fix.

Which Unilock Models This Applies To

Unilock fence installation covers a wide product range, but most Orange County homes run either the Estate Wall system, the Brussels Dimensional system, or the U-Cara multi-face panel system. Each has a different post-and-panel connection, and that is where compatibility gets missed.

Estate Wall uses a tongue-and-groove post with a mechanical fastener and a stacked panel. Brussels Dimensional uses a split-face block with a mortarless stacking system, and the posts are engineered to take a cap. U-Cara is a panel system with a steel reinforced core and a face that slides into a track. A U-Cara panel will not interchange with an Estate Wall post, and forcing it is how you get a fence that looks fine for six months and then opens a seam after the first Santa Ana wind.

The right part identification starts with the label stamped on the bottom of the post or the back of a panel, then a measurement of the panel width and the post profile. We keep Unilock’s current and recent-generation components on hand, and for discontinued colors or profiles, we can match the dimensions and texture with a documented aftermarket equivalent that meets the same compressive strength. The decision between OEM and aftermarket comes down to two things: matching the color batch, and matching the post-to-panel mechanical connection. On Unilock fences, we default to OEM for any piece where the color face is visible. For buried base courses and the unseen back side, a quality aftermarket block is common and cuts the parts bill without touching durability.

We also install fencing from Belgard, and for homeowners doing broader exterior work, we carry KraftMaid, Cambria, and Silestone components inside the house.

Signs Your Unilock Fence Installation Is Failing

  • Leaning posts after heavy rain. Orange County soil gets saturated fast during the winter, and if the compacted base under the post was too thin or the drainage behind the wall was skipped, the post shifts and the whole line follows it.
  • Gaps opening between panels and posts. This usually means the mechanical connector has corroded or the post has moved outward, pulling the panel off its seat. The right fix is to reset the post and replace the connector, not to caulk the seam.
  • Gate dragging or not latching. The gate post is the first thing to move on a failing fence, because it carries the hinge load and the repeated slamming force. If the latch has to be lifted or the gate scrapes concrete, the post footing is the problem.
  • Chipping or spalling on the panel face. Unilock panels are engineered for compressive strength, but coastal salt air and mineral-heavy irrigation water can eat at the surface over years. Once the face starts shedding, water gets into the core and freeze-thaw cycles do more damage.
  • Efflorescence that keeps coming back. A white, chalky film that refuses to stay cleaned is not just cosmetic. It means water is moving through the block constantly, and that same moisture is working on the connectors and the base.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

A finished basement family room with a media wall and wet bar

A Unilock fence installation in Orange County runs $3,500 to $9,000 installed. The spread is driven by three things: linear footage, whether the existing post footings can be reused or need to be re-dug and re-compacted, and the condition of the base course under the line. A short run under 30 linear feet lands on the low end. A full perimeter with two gates, a raised planter bed behind the fence, and demolition of a poured concrete footer lands on the high end.

What is included: removal and disposal of the failed section, excavation to the correct depth, compacted class-2 base, new posts set and plumbed, panels seated and locked, gate hardware replaced if the gate post was part of the failure, and a full site cleanup. The price is written before we start, and it does not move at the door. Every Unilock fence installation we complete is covered by the 365-Day Done Right Promise: if the fence shifts, cracks, or the gate goes out of plumb within one year, we come back and correct it at no charge.

The Garrison Standard governs how that promise is delivered. It means the scope, the materials, and the final number are all in writing, and the written guarantee is in your hand before the crew rolls off.

DIY or Call Us?

There are checks you can do safely. A level against the posts will tell you which one has moved. A string line along the top rail will show you where the line is out. You can pull back the mulch or ground cover at the base of a post and see whether the footing has cracked. That is information we will ask for when you call, and it helps us price the job accurately over the phone.

What you should not do is try to jack a leaning post back square. Unilock fence posts are not set like wood posts. Once the base has shifted, the entire post has to come out, the footing has to be recompacted, and the post has to be reset. Pulling on it or shimming it will crack the block and turn a $1,000 post reset into a $4,000 panel replacement. The same applies to any gate with a heavy panel hanging on it. The tension in a leaning gate post is not something to fight by hand.

Call (562) 262-2907 and we will walk you through the symptoms, give you the straight number, and schedule the crew if it makes sense.
