Quikrete Driveway & Pavers: The Orange County Owner’s Guide
Quikrete driveway and paver materials run $4,500 to $18,000 installed in Orange County, depending on whether you’re pouring a new concrete drive or rebuilding with interlocking pavers. We stock Quikrete mixes and compatible paver systems on our trucks, and we can usually match your existing material same-day when you call (562) 262-2907. Most Orange County homeowners call us after a section of driveway spalls, a paver edge drops from soil movement, or an existing patch job fails and the aggregate starts showing through.
The truth about Quikrete in Orange County: the product is consistent, but the ground under it isn’t. Our adobe clay and decomposed granite soils swell with winter rain and shrink through dry summers. That movement is what kills driveways and paver beds out here, not the mix itself. We see it in Anaheim, Fullerton, Huntington Beach, and Yorba Linda the same way.
Which Quikrete Models This Applies To

Quikrete makes two distinct product families for driveway and paver work. First is the bagged concrete: 80-lb bags of 5000 PSI mix, Crack-Resistant mix with reinforcing fibers, and Fast-Setting mix for post and edge repairs. Second is the paver system: Quikrete Paver Base, Leveling Sand, and Polymeric Jointing Sand. Knowing which one your existing job used matters, because matching a failed section with the wrong product leads to a visible patch line that never blends.
The compatibility gotcha most Orange County homeowners miss: Quikrete’s crack-resistant mix is designed for slabs up to 4 inches thick, not for load-bearing edges. If your driveway lip is crumbling where the tires roll over it, you need 5000 PSI mix, not crack-resistant. We also carry aftermarket polymeric sands that outperform Quikrete’s standard jointing sand in our clay-heavy soils. Bradford Remodeling Co Orange County is an independent service provider, not affiliated with Quikrete, so we’re free to install whatever holds up best on your specific site. We also work with KraftMaid, Cambria, and Silestone when a driveway job is part of a larger exterior remodel.

Signs Your Quikrete Driveway & Pavers Is Failing
- Hairline cracks that stay under 1/8 inch. Normal for Orange County’s hot-dry summers and cool winters, but if they widen after a rain, the base under your slab is moving and the concrete will follow.
- Spalling, or the top layer flaking off. Usually from over-watering during the original pour or from water sitting on the surface. On driveways, the culprit is often the sprinkler overspray hitting the same patch every morning.
- Sunken paver edges along the lawn line. This is your soil shrinking in dry weather. The sand bed loses moisture, compresses, and the pavers tip. We re-bed the edge and add a compacted base rather than just re-sweeping sand on top.
- Polymeric sand that keeps washing out. If the jointing sand won’t set even after a proper wet-down, the original installer likely used too wide a joint or didn’t compact the base. Water gets under the pavers and works its way up.
- A hollow sound when you tap the slab with a shovel handle. That means the concrete has delaminated from its base. Patching it is throwing good money at a failed slab. In Orange County, replacing the section is usually the square call.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

Concrete driveway installation in Orange County runs $4,500 to $12,000, and a full paver driveway runs $7,000 to $18,000. The spread comes from square footage, access, demo of the old surface, and site prep. If your existing base is shot, add for compaction and a new gravel sub-base. If you’re just replacing a section, the per-square-foot cost is higher because we’re matching edges and blending color, which eats more labor than a clean pour.
Every bid includes material, labor, haul-off of the old surface, base prep, and a written price before any work starts. No numbers that move at the door. If we say $9,400 for a paver driveway, that’s the number on the invoice at the end. What it does not include is surprises. If we hit something unexpected during demo, we stop, show you what we found, and give you a written change order before we touch it. That’s The Garrison Standard, and it’s been how we operate since our Garrison Partners days going back to 2004.

DIY or Call Us?
You can safely check a few things yourself. Look at your expansion joints. Look at where water pools after rain. Look at whether your paver edges are dropping toward the lawn. Those observations help us price your job accurately over the phone, and they cost you nothing but five minutes in the driveway.
What you should not do is tear out a failed slab yourself. Demo is dangerous work, and concrete can pop under stress in ways that send shards at your shins. If the slab is thick, reinforced, or runs right up to your foundation, let a crew with proper tools and training handle it. We’ve been running crews across Orange County since Curtis Lane first learned framing at Los Angeles Trade-Technical College and started taking jobs from Anaheim Hills to Balboa Island. Straight number, clear scope, no surprises at final invoice. Call (562) 262-2907 and we’ll walk the site and give you a written price.
FAQs

A properly installed Quikrete driveway in Orange County lasts 25 to 30 years with sealing every 3 to 5 years, though the edge where tires roll over it is the first place to fail. Our climate’s sun exposure and soil movement mean you should expect cosmetic cracks well before structural failure.
If the base is intact, individual paver sections can be pulled, re-bedded, and re-sanded for a few hundred dollars. If the base has compacted or washed out, repairs won’t hold, and a partial or full re-install is the only fix that lasts. Call (562) 262-2907 and we’ll tell you which situation you’re in.
A paver driveway replacement typically takes 3 to 5 days including demo, base prep, installation, and compaction. A poured concrete driveway takes 2 to 4 days, plus a cure time of about a week before you park on it.
