Plant Prefab Driveway & Pavers: The Orange County Owner’s Guide
We stock and install Plant Prefab-compatible driveway pavers and hardscape systems across Orange County, with installed paver driveway work typically running $7,000 – $18,000 depending on square footage, substrate condition, and paver line. Most owners call us after a section settles, a corner paver cracks under vehicle load, or the original install shows signs of base failure that the builder’s warranty won’t cover. You can usually have the assessment done within a few days, and a written price in hand before any work starts. Bradford Remodeling Co Orange County is an independent service provider, not affiliated with Plant Prefab.
Which Plant Prefab Models This Applies To

Plant Prefab homes built in Orange County typically ship with one of two hardscape approaches at the driveway: a compacted-base paver system set over graded fill, or a poured concrete apron with paver accents at the entry walk. The paver work is almost always modular segmental paving, not cast-in-place stone, which matters because the replacement part you need isn’t a single “Plant Prefab paver” part number. It’s a compatible paver unit with the right thickness (usually 60mm or 80mm for vehicle loads), the right joint spacing, and a base that meets Orange County’s soil conditions.
Here’s the compatibility gotcha we see on Plant Prefab lots: the original hardscape is often spec’d for lighter residential foot traffic, not daily two-car driveway use. If the pavers are 60mm units on a shallow base, they’ll fail under SUV and truck weight regardless of brand. We match the paver to the load, not just the color. For OEM vs aftermarket: Plant Prefab homes don’t typically have proprietary paver branding, so a quality Belgard or Unilock unit in a matching profile is usually the better long-term call than chasing an exact builder-spec match that was undersized to begin with. Curtis Lane checks the existing units, measures thickness with a caliper, and tells you straight whether the old pavers deserve to go back in or whether the base needs to be rebuilt first.

Signs Your Plant Prefab Driveway & Pavers Is Failing
- Settling or dipping at the apron edge. This is base failure, not paver failure. Orange County’s clay-heavy soil expands and contracts with moisture, and a base that wasn’t compacted in lifts will drop within the first three to five years. The pavers themselves are usually fine; the ground under them gave up.
- Cracked or spalled paver corners near the garage approach. This is the load problem. A 60mm paver will crack under repeated turning pressure from a 5,000-pound vehicle when the base flexes even slightly. You’ll see it first on the outside turning radius where tires scrub.
- Weeds or ants pushing up between joints. Joint sand has washed out or was never swept in properly. Once the sand is gone, the pavers lose lateral lock and start shifting independently. In Orange County’s dry season, this gets worse fast because the sand blows out and nothing holds the joints.
- Water pooling against the foundation or garage slab. The original grade may have had insufficient slope, or settlement reversed it. Standing water at the slab edge is a foundation issue waiting to happen, not just a puddle.
- Uneven paver height at the threshold. If the paver right at the garage entry sits proud of the adjacent units, the base has heaved or settled unevenly. This trips people and catches tires; it also tells us the subgrade wasn’t uniform.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

In Orange County, a full paver driveway replacement runs $7,000 – $18,000 installed. Smaller scopes like a paver patio or entry walk fall in the $3,500 – $11,000 range. Sealing an existing paver driveway runs $250 – $700 depending on square footage. What drives the spread: total area, depth of excavation to reach stable soil, whether we’re hauling off the old base or reusing it, and whether you’re going with a standard paver unit or a heavier 80mm unit rated for vehicles.
Every price includes removal of failed material, base preparation and compaction, paver supply, install, joint sand, and cleanup. You get a written price before we start, and the number doesn’t move at the door. The finished work carries the 365-Day Done Right Promise: if anything fails inside a year, we come back and correct it at no charge.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely inspect your own driveway: look for settlement, check joint sand levels, and note any pavers that rock underfoot. That information helps us give you a tighter number on the phone. But rebuilding a paver base is not a weekend project. It requires excavation to stable soil, correct compaction in lifts, proper slope for drainage, and enough material depth to hold vehicle weight. Get the compaction or the slope wrong and you’ll be looking at the same failure again in three years.
If the joints are just low on sand, you can top-dress with polymeric sand yourself and buy a couple seasons. But if pavers are cracking or settling, that’s a base problem, and base problems don’t fix themselves. Call (562) 262-2907 and we’ll send someone out to look. The assessment is free, and the price you get is the price you’ll pay.
FAQs

A properly built paver driveway on a compacted base should last 25 – 30 years in Orange County before the base needs significant rework. The pavers themselves, especially 80mm units, can go longer than that. Short life is almost always a base problem, not a paver problem.
Yes, if the base under the rest of the driveway is still stable. We cut out the failed section, rebuild the base, and relay pavers to match the existing pattern and elevation. The honest caveat: if the base failure runs deep, patching becomes a series of patch jobs, and full replacement is cheaper long-term. Call (562) 262-2907 and we’ll tell you which one you’re actually looking at.
Most Orange County driveway replacements run three to five working days from excavation to final joint sand. Weather can stretch that, and any required city inspection on the driveway approach adds a day or two. We give you a schedule in writing with the price.
We stock a working inventory of Belgard and Unilock pavers in the profiles and colors most common on Plant Prefab lots in Orange County. If your specific color or texture is out of stock, we order it and the material cost is still locked into your written price before work starts. No surprises on the invoice.
