IKO Driveway & Pavers: The Orange County Owner’s Guide
IKO driveway and paver components that have cracked, shifted, or worn past their service life get replaced here in Orange County for $7,000 to $18,000 installed, depending on square footage, substrate condition, and the specific IKO product line you’re matching. We stock common IKO-compatible paver profiles and edge restraints on our trucks, and most assessments happen within a day or two of your call. The way most homeowners find us: a paver has sunk, an edge restraint has let go, or a section of the driveway has started moving under vehicle weight.
IKO manufactures a range of concrete pavers and related hardscape products, and the failure points we see across Orange County are consistent: degraded sand joints, failed edge restraints, or a compacted base that wasn’t done right the first time. The paver itself rarely fails. What fails is what’s under it and what’s holding the perimeter. That’s a useful distinction, because it changes what the repair actually costs.
Bradford Remodeling Co Orange County is an independent service provider and installer. We’re not affiliated with IKO, but we work with their product specifications daily and match replacements to the original IKO paver dimensions and color series wherever possible.
Which IKO Models This Applies To

IKO’s hardscape line includes several paver series with distinct dimensions and finishes, and the compatibility gotcha is this: pavers are modular. A 60mm paver will not sit flush against an 80mm paver, and mixing thicknesses on a driveway creates lippage and cracked edges within the first year. Before any estimate, we identify the paver thickness (usually stamped on the underside or measurable on an exposed edge), the pattern (running bond, herringbone, basket weave), and the color series. IKO has shifted color names and blends over the years, so a “charcoal” from 2015 may not match a “charcoal” sold today.
For IKO driveway applications, the most common profiles we see in Orange County are 60mm and 80mm interlocking concrete pavers, with 80mm specified for driveways carrying regular vehicle traffic. If your original install used 60mm on a driveway, that’s a red flag, and we’ll tell you plainly that the thickness wasn’t right for the load. OEM IKO pavers are available through regional hardscape distributors; quality aftermarket equivalents from Belgard and Unilock can match dimensions and load ratings, but color matching to an existing IKO field is where aftermarket products fall short. We’ll show you samples in daylight before you commit. We also stock and install Belgard products as part of our documented brand roster.

Signs Your IKO Driveway & Pavers Is Failing
- Settling or depressions in the wheel tracks. This almost always means the compacted base under the pavers has failed or was never adequate. In Orange County’s clay-heavy soils, poor drainage below the base accelerates this. Water gets under, the base softens, and vehicle weight does the rest.
- Pavers shifting or spreading at the edges. Edge restraint failure. The plastic or aluminum edging that holds the field together has broken, pulled loose, or was never spiked deeply enough. Once the edge lets go, the interlock loosens across the whole section.
- Sand joints washing out after rain. Joint sand is the interlock mechanism. When it erodes, pavers start moving independently. You’ll see weeds taking root in the gaps first, then movement follows.
- Cracked pavers in high-traffic areas. Usually a point load problem: a paver bridging a void underneath, or an undersized paver taking concentrated weight near a garage apron or turn area. One crack is a symptom; multiple cracks in a line mean a base problem.
- Water pooling that never drained well. Improper slope or a clogged permeable layer under the pavers. Standing water breaks down the base over time and shortens the life of the entire driveway surface.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

For a full IKO-compatible paver driveway replacement in Orange County, you’re looking at $7,000 to $18,000 installed. The range is driven by square footage, paver thickness (80mm costs more than 60mm), base excavation depth, and access to the site. A straight 400-square-foot driveway in Anaheim Hills with good access lands at the lower end. A curved 900-square-foot driveway near Balboa Island with a steep grade and poor truck access lands at the upper end.
Every estimate includes a written line-item breakdown: excavation and haul-off, base material and compaction, paver material at cost, sand and sealant, edge restraint, and labor. That’s The Garrison Standard at work. The price we put in writing before work starts is the price you pay at the end. If we hit an unforeseen condition underground, we stop and bring you a change-order number in writing before we touch it. No surprises at final invoice.
All completed work carries the 365-Day Done Right Promise: if the driveway fails within one year, we come back and correct it at no charge. That’s a written guarantee, signed and handed to you at job close.
DIY or Call Us?
What you can safely do yourself: keep the surface clear of debris, watch for joint sand washing out after heavy rain, and note any new depressions or edge movement. Flagging those early costs you nothing and gives us a head start on the repair scope.
What you shouldn’t do: pull up pavers and re-set them without addressing the base. Homeowners often re-sand joints or re-set a few pavers and call it fixed, but if the base has failed, the same problem returns in six months. Paver work also involves compacting equipment and cutting pavers with a masonry saw, both of which carry real risk to untrained hands. A cut that goes wrong is a trip to urgent care. If the base is the problem, the fix isn’t superficial. Call us at (562) 262-2907 and we’ll assess it honestly. If a simple joint re-sanding is all you need, we’ll tell you that too.
FAQs

A properly installed IKO paver driveway with an adequate compacted base and maintained joint sand will last 25 to 30 years in Orange County’s climate. The pavers themselves are concrete units rated for decades of service; what shortens that lifespan is base failure, poor drainage, or edge restraint breakdown, not the paver material itself.
Yes, if the base under that section is still sound. We can cut out and re-set a localized area, re-compact the base, and install new edge restraint where needed. But if the base has failed across multiple sections, patching becomes a recurring expense. We’ll tell you which situation you’re in before you spend a dollar. Call (562) 262-2907 for an honest assessment.
A typical 400 to 600 square foot driveway takes 3 to 5 working days from excavation to final compaction and sealing, weather permitting. Larger projects, steep grades, or significant base reconstruction extend that. We set the schedule in writing and we stick to it.
We stock common IKO-compatible profiles and edge restraints on our trucks, but specific IKO color series and large-quantity paver orders come through regional hardscape distributors, typically a 3 to 5 business day lead time in Orange County. We’ll confirm material availability before we schedule your start date, so you’re not looking at a torn-up driveway with no pavers on site.
Straight number, clear scope, no surprises at final invoice. If you need IKO driveway or paver work in Orange County, call (562) 262-2907 for a free estimate. A live person answers, day or night, and we’ll put the scope and the price in writing before any work starts.
