Cover Fence Installation: The Orange County Owner’s Guide

Cover fence installation in Orange County typically runs $3,500 – $9,000 for a complete project, including materials, labor, and site cleanup. We stock Cover-compatible fence components and install them with the same discipline we bring to every structural job. Most homeowners discover their Cover fence has failed the slow way: a post starts leaning after a Santa Ana wind event, or a gate sags until it scrapes the concrete. You don’t need a full teardown every time. The right diagnosis, the right part, and a crew that shows up on schedule solves most failures in a single visit.

Which Cover Models This Applies To

Cover fence systems in Orange County run across a few distinct product lines, and the part compatibility is not universal. The two most common installations we service are the Cover aluminum post-and-panel system and the Cover vinyl privacy series. Each uses different post dimensions, different gate hardware, and different panel clips. Before we order anything, we check the manufacturer label stamped on the inside of a post cap or the back face of a panel. If the label is gone, we measure the post profile and panel thickness on site. That measurement matters: Cover’s aluminum series uses a 2″ x 2″ post with a specific wall gauge, while the vinyl series runs a 4″ x 4″ post with a reinforced insert. Mixing aftermarket hardware meant for a generic box-store fence is the fastest way to ruin a Cover panel. We use OEM Cover parts when they’re available, and we’ll tell you plainly when a quality aftermarket equivalent makes more sense for an older installation where Cover has discontinued the line.

Signs Your Cover Fence Installation Is Failing

  • Post lean at the base. This usually means the concrete footing has cracked or the post was set too shallow originally. Orange County’s clay-heavy soil expands and contracts with rain, and a post set at 18 inches instead of 24 will eventually move.
  • Gate drag or won’t latch. The hinge screws pull out of the post over time, or the gate frame itself has twisted. On Cover systems, this is often the top hinge bearing wearing out before the post fails.
  • Panel rattle in wind. The spring clips or set screws that hold panels into the posts have loosened or broken. You’ll notice it most on the west side of the house, where Santa Ana gusts hit hardest.
  • White residue or rust at joints. On aluminum, this is galvanic corrosion where a steel screw touches the aluminum rail. On vinyl, chalky residue means UV degradation is underway after 10-plus years of direct Orange County sun.
  • Ground clearance loss. Fence panels that once cleared the soil now touch it. This is usually frost heave or soil settlement, not a Cover part failure, but it requires re-setting posts before the panel rots or corrodes.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

A full Cover fence installation in Orange County lands between $3,500 and $9,000 depending on linear footage, post condition, and whether we’re reusing existing concrete footings. Short runs under 50 linear feet with clean post holes start near the bottom of that range. A full backyard perimeter with 6-foot privacy panels, two gates, and new footings throughout will push toward the top. Every quote we write includes parts, labor, post concrete, gate hardware, haul-away of the old fence, and site cleanup. The written price you approve before we start is the price you pay. We don’t reprice at the door. And every Cover fence installation we complete carries the 365-Day Done Right Promise: if anything fails inside a year, we come back and fix it at no charge. No deductibles, no trip fees, no fine print.

DIY or Call Us?

There’s a split here, and I’ll be straight about it. Replacing a single vinyl panel or re-securing a loose picket is something a careful homeowner with basic tools can handle. Cutting a new post and re-setting it in concrete is where DIY goes wrong in Orange County, not because the task is complicated, but because the soil and the wind punish shortcuts. A post set too shallow or off-plumb leans again within a season, and a gate hung out of square will bind on the latch every time. No part of this job is dangerous in the way garage springs or electrical work is, but it will frustrate you if you’re guessing at post depth and hinge alignment. We’re glad to come out, give you a straight number, and do the work right the first time. Call (562) 262-2907 and we’ll schedule the free estimate.
