CertainTeed Fence Installation: The Orange County Owner’s Guide
CertainTeed fence installation in Orange County typically costs between $3,500 and $9,000 for a full run, including materials, post setting, and finish work. We stock CertainTeed-compatible components and can usually match your existing fence profile without ripping out sound sections. Most homeowners find us because a section has bowed, a post has gone soft at the base, or a gate no longer latches square, and they want the fix to look like it was never touched.
We’re an independent Orange County contractor, not a CertainTeed dealer or affiliate. That means we can give you a straight number for the work, not a sales pitch for a whole new fence. Curtis Lane, our owner, grew up in East Los Angeles and trained at Los Angeles Trade-Technical College, where he learned framing and finish work the old way. He’s been running crews across Orange County for over a decade, and he’ll tell you the same thing on every job walk: a fence that’s plumb, square, and set in proper concrete doesn’t move.
Which CertainTeed Models This Applies To

CertainTeed’s fence lines break into three families: EverNew (vinyl and composite pickets with a matte, wood-like finish), SimTek (rotational-molded simulated stone and wood-grain panels), and Bufftech (routed vinyl with a deeper profile). If you have a failing section, the first thing we do is check the back side of a picket or rail for the molded-in part code and dimension. Bufftech panels, for example, are not interchangeable with EverNew, even when the picket width looks right from the curb.
The compatibility gotcha that costs owners the most in Orange County: post sizing. SimTek panels require a 5×5 post sleeve. EverNew and Bufftech use a 4×4. If a previous installer set the wrong post, you’ll get a fence that stands but wallows in high wind. The Santa Ana winds that push through Anaheim Hills and Yorba Linda every fall find that weakness fast. We check post dimensions on every estimate, not just the panel profile.
For replacement parts, CertainTeed OEM components are the safest match for color and profile continuity, especially on colored vinyl, which shows UV drift across brands. For white and tan lines, a quality aftermarket route-and-notch board can save money without a visible difference. We’ll quote both and tell you where the savings are real and where they’re not.

Signs Your CertainTeed Fence Installation Is Failing
- Posts leaning out of plumb at the base. This is nearly always a concrete footer that wasn’t deep enough or wasn’t allowed to cure before the panel hung. We see it regularly in south Orange County, where expansive clay soil shifts with winter rains and dries hard in summer.
- Pickets popping from the bottom rails. Vinyl expands and contracts more than people expect. If the original installer didn’t leave proper clearance in the routed channel, the pickets bind, then crack at the corners. The loose board is a symptom. The tight channel is the cause.
- Gate sagging or dragging on the latch side. Most vinyl gates aren’t reinforced correctly at the hinge post. Over time, the post flexes, and the gate drops. You can see it in the wear line on the concrete or the gap widening at the top hinge.
- Warped or wavy rails between posts. Vinyl rails have a deflection limit. If the post spacing was stretched beyond the manufacturer’s spec to save a few posts, the rail will sag or bow in summer heat. It never self-corrects.
- UV chalk or noticeable color shift on one section only. A replacement section from a different production run or brand can drift from the original color within two to three Orange County summers. That mismatch tells you a prior repair wasn’t parts-matched.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

For most Orange County properties, a CertainTeed fence section replacement runs between $1,200 and $3,800, depending on linear feet, post condition, and whether we’re matching colored vinyl or white. A full fence installation runs $3,500 to $9,000. That number includes the written price before work starts, removal and haul-off of the failed section, new post footers where needed, the CertainTeed or matched-compatible components, and a signed written guarantee in your hand at close-out.
The range moves mostly on three things: whether the posts are reusable, how much the grade drops across the run, and whether we’re working around concrete or root systems. In Newport Beach and Corona del Mar, for example, tight side yards and mature tree roots add time and cutting. We show you the line items for every one of those before you commit. No numbers move at the door.
Every completed fence job is covered by our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if the work fails inside that window, we come back and correct it at no charge. That’s The Garrison Standard, and it’s in writing on every estimate we hand you.
DIY or Call Us?
You can save yourself a service fee by checking two things before you call: whether the post is cracked at the base or simply leaning, and whether the pickets are loose in the channel or actually split. If the post is cracked, especially near the concrete line, it’s a replacement, not a reset. If the pickets are split, the section is done.
What we don’t recommend is pulling and resetting your own posts on a wind-rated fence. Orange County’s high-wind zones, especially along the foothills and canyons, put real lateral load on a fence. A post set too shallow or with the wrong concrete mix will hold for a season, and then it won’t. We’ve pulled posts where the footer was the size of a coffee can. The fence looked fine until the first Santa Ana event. If you want it set once and left alone, call us at (562) 262-2907 for a free estimate. Straight number, clear scope, no surprises at final invoice.
FAQs

A properly installed CertainTeed vinyl fence should last 25 to 35 years in Orange County. The biggest threats here are not rain but UV exposure and wind, particularly in inland areas like Rancho Santa Margarita and the 91 corridor, where hot, dry summers bake the vinyl and high winds test every post. A fence that fails within 8 to 10 years was almost always installed with spacing or footer errors. Call (562) 262-2907 if you want us to look at what failed and why before you pay for a fix.
Sometimes, yes. A post that’s leaning but not cracked can often be re-set with a larger footer. A loose picket can be re-seated if the channel hasn’t cracked. But once vinyl is split, warped, or UV-brittle, patching buys you months, not years. We’ll tell you honestly which side of that line your fence falls on. Estimates are free at (562) 262-2907.
A single-section replacement typically takes one day. A full fence installation for an average Orange County lot takes three to five working days, including concrete cure time before we hang panels. We schedule the work in writing, and your crew is background-checked and uniformed, so you know exactly who is on-site each day. Call (562) 262-2907 to get your date in writing.
We stock common EverNew, SimTek, and Bufftech components in white and tan, including post sleeves, bottom rails, and gate kits, and we order OEM colored parts directly for colormatched sections. We also stock compatible route-and-notch boards for budget-conscious repairs. If we have it on the truck, we’ll show you the part before we install it. Call (562) 262-2907 to check availability for your profile and color.
